| [主な研究内容] |
地球上にはおよそ２５万種もの被子植物（顕花植物）が存在しています。これは被子植物が誕生してから数億年の長い年月の間に様々な進化を経験してきた結果、獲得した多様性です。系統分類学は近代科学の開始と同時に、この多様な植物を植物の進化の道筋に沿って整然と配列していく努力を積み重ね、現在も継続しています。私たちの研究室では被子植物の生殖器官（花と果実）の解剖学的な特徴やその遺伝子の比較からその植物群の分類体系を改良して進化の道筋を明らかにする研究を行っています。
